TEACHING MOMENTS – “Letting Go, While Entrusting”

We have learned over the past blogs about Submission; to submit means to yield the right of way to, give up rights to, let go of power or will to, to be subject to, and come under the authority of as pleasing to our Lord Jesus Christ. One phrase I want to focus on that is paramount in submitting is learning to ‘Let Go of.’ You can review the series I wrote in-depth on the subject beginning December 2017 through February 2018. LETTING GO OF THE PAST . There are instructions on “How to Let Go.”

However, in today’s blog I want to sum up what it means to ‘Let Go;’ it is the way we say to our Lord… I trust you with this. Another term we use to describe this activity is to ‘surrender,’ not with hands up like being arrested but hands wide open as to ‘Let Go of’ and to entrust the Lord with something or someone very dear and precious to us. Merriam-Webster define the word entrust as, to commit to someone with confidence and to deliver something in trust to.

” I TRUST YOU LORD WITH THIS”

In our lives, we have learned through the flesh (man’s way of getting his needs met or controlling situations with his own ingenuity) how to manage our lives without Christ. The strategies of the flesh work, that’s why we keep using them. Our Lord allows difficult circumstances in our lives beyond the flesh’s ability to manage them to cause us to run to Him for help. It is a very strategic and ingenious way our Lord uses to cause us to lose confidence in the flesh. I am so grateful He does. He brings us to a point in each circumstance in our lives and asks us this question… “Do you want to keep holding to this thing or person and try to fix it/them or will you give it to Me and Let Go so I can fulfill my purposes in your life?”

Along my 40-year journey with my Lord, He exposed things and people I was trying to fix and control; He wanted full control to work according to His plans. Here are just a few things and people I had to Let Go of so that my Lord could have His way:

  • My will for my Lord’s Will alone (This was a very difficult one and still is)
  • My past, present, and future
  • My sins and failures (the enemy loves to torment me with them)
  • My desire for children
  • My marriage
  • My career
  • My spiritual ambitions (ministry)
  • My need to be loved and understood
  • My fears (He dealt with them one at a time, they were many)
  • My need to be seen and heard
  • My insecurities of not being good enough or smart enough
  • My need for friends
  • My fear of being abandoned
  • My fear of rejection
  • My health
  • My financial stability
  • My weight and appearance
  • My spiritual children, brothers, and sisters In Christ, spiritual parents
  • My need to be loved, understood and cared for by my parents
  • My need to get even with those who abused me or hurt me, unforgiveness
  • My stuff, house, car, clothes, etc.

Now, I live with hands and heart wide open, not clinging to anything or anyone… they all belong to my Lord. They are gifts to me in my life to enjoy but never to possess as mine.

I have discovered:
True Faith is … Trusting in the Lord by Letting Go then Entrusting all things and every situation in our lives to Him who loves us infinitely. Then resting and abiding quietly in the Arms of His Grace and Love.

“THANK YOU FOR TRUSTING ME!”

Here is a message I read and enjoyed. I hope you enjoy it as well.

LETTING GO

To let go doesn’t mean to stop caring, it means I can’t do it for someone else.

To let go is not to cut myself off, it’s a realization that I can’t control another.

To let go is not to enable but to allow learning from natural consequences.

To let go is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in my hands but in my Lord’s hands.

To let go is not to try to change or blame another, I can only change myself through God’s grace.

To let go is not to care for, but to care about.

To let go is not to fix, but to be supportive.

To let go is not to judge, but to allow another to be a human being.

To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes,

but to allow others to affect their own outcomes.

To let go is not to be protective; it is to permit another to face reality.

To let go is not to deny, but to accept.

To let go is not to nag, scold, or argue, but to search out my own shortcomings and to correct them.

To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires, but to take each day as it comes.

To let go is not to criticize and regulate anyone, but to try to become what the Lord desires me to be “In Him.”

To let go is not to regret the past, but to grow and live for the future.

To let go is to fear less and love more!
