A New Spirit

²⁶ A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.

²⁷ And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep My judgments, and do them.

We are so blessed to live under the New Covenant established by the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ. We were born again when we gave our hearts and lives to Jesus Christ. God forgave all our sins (past, present, and future), and we received a New Heart. Our Father calls us, His New Creations. Our Father removed our rebellious hearts and gave us tender and obedient hearts. Not only did we receive forgiveness of all our sins, New Hearts, and are God’s New Creations, but we were also given His New Spirit. Do you remember what the Bible said about our Old Spirit? Let us look at a few scriptures to see who we were before we gave our lives to Jesus Christ.

 

Old Spirits, Dead in Sin

1. We were born dead in our trespasses and sins. Ephesians 2:10
2. We were held captive by the evil one. 2 Timothy 2:26
3. We were called the children of God’s wrath. Ephesians 2:3
4. We were hostile toward God. Romans 8:7
5. We were slaves to sin and the law. Galatians 4:8

 

New Spirits, Free in Christ

We lived under the power of the kingdom of darkness. But Jesus, who is so rich in His grace and mercy, freed us from the power of darkness, sin, the law, and the flesh. He lives within us to give us HIS LIFE! However, we must renew our souls (mind, will, and emotions) to the TRUTH of who God says WE ARE. 

1. We are ONE spirit with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I Corinthians 6:17
2. We are ALIVE in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:5
3. We are FREE from the powers of the evil one. Ephesians 5:8
4. We are Children of God and no longer children of the evil one. Romans 8:16
5. We have PEACE WITH God; our sins are erased we are blameless. Romans 5:1
6. We are FREE from sin and the Law to serve God in Spirit and Truth. Romans 8:2

                                                                                                                                                           

Thank you, Father, Lord Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit, for our NEW SPIRITS! We are alive again to serve and love You with a pure heart.
