MERRY CHRISTMAS!! THE SACRED JOURNEY Part 3
LONGING FOR PEACE AND SECURITY
If you remember from our last story Spirit died, Soul, Thinker, Emotion, and Will were unable to return home to their loving father and elder brother. No matter how much they tried, their attempts to climb the steep hill from which they slid down ended in disappointment. So what do they do now without Spirit, to lead and guide them, they thought? Thinker told Soul, “Since our sister, Spirit, is sleeping and we cannot wake her up, let’s rest her under this tree so we can find food?” So they created a little canopy, made out of tree branches, and laid her under the tree. As evening approached, they wandered into the valley to find food and not help for their sister.
When Soul, Will, Thinker, and Emotion arrived in the new city, they were greeted with smiles and open arms. One of the ladies said, “Stay here with us tonight and enjoy good food and the pleasures of life.” As they sat around the table, the air was filled with laughter. There was dancing as they served them drinks in golden goblets and gave a goblet to each of them to drink. Soul was confused so she looked to Will for guidance. Emotion was fearful, then began to feel anxious, worried, and panicky- emotions she had never experienced home in Sacred Meadows. Thinker was tired and weary, she just went along with what the others did. She had no strength to resist. Will stood up and said, “Let’s try it!” What began as a happy day of ‘hide and seek’ ended as a very fearful and confusing day. The drink from the goblet made them curious and the four of them experienced things they had never done or seen before. In the new city called “The World,” they met the town’s ruler, Evil One. He had two sons. Flesh and Fear, and a daughter named, Unbelief. When they saw the siblings, they knew that they were from Sacred Meadows by the way they were dressed in white and gold, symbolizing purity and royalty. In order for them to fit in with the citizens in the new city, Evil One devised a plan, a plan he used with every outsider who came to his city. His plan was: to change and conform outsiders to the way they lived, what they believed, and remove all desires for ever wanting to leave “The World.” With those goals in mind, he used his children, Flesh, Fear, and Unbelief to gain Soul and her sibling’s trust in order to carry out his scheme.
When night approached, the laughter in the valley turned into a clamor, yelling, fighting, insults, and screaming. The siblings were overwhelmed with fear by the noise they heard throughout the city, so they hid together in a corner in an alley away from the crowd, just hoping their father or older brother would find them. Unfortunately, their father or eldest brother did not come for them that night.
Meanwhile, in Sacred Meadows, the father, and his eldest son searched the meadows and hills far and wide, trying to find their beloved children and siblings. From sun up, to sun down, they anxiously waited for their return, but, they did not come home. After a few weeks when they did not return, the father asked his son, “You know I forbid your siblings to not go down into the valley and to the city below because of the darkness and Evil One who rule in the valley, but for the sake of my children and your brother and sisters, will you go to find them and bring them home to me?” The eldest son replied, “Yes, father I know how much you love them and I love them too. I will go in search of my sisters and brother to bring them back home to you.”
THE GIFTS of PEACE AND SECURITY: In Part 3 of The Sacred Journey, the siblings left their sister Spirit asleep, who is dead. They went in search of ‘food’ not ‘help’ for their sister. They entered a new environment where selfishness, fear, pleasure, food, and fun rule. It was a place of activity, noise, and restlessness- the absence of peace. Peace is that quiet confidence and security one experiences from the inside out. Peace makes one feel safe and secure in “who I am and whose I am.” The siblings’ home in Sacred Meadows was one of peace, love, and tranquility. Peace, fun, and laughter never depended on the circumstances, they lived in the Arms of Security. They were safe and never experienced fear until they ventured to “The World.” The absence of peace is insecurity. Why do we feel so insecure about ourselves, our appearance, our possessions or lack of possessions, our education, not feeling good enough, or not having enough? We have to keep looking to others for assurance “Am I am okay?” “Please tell me I am okay and tell me that I am loved.” We have believed in and placed our trust in, the voice of insecurity spoken to us by the Evil One.
Prayer: Father, we believe the lies of the Evil One, who has created a world filled with lies to lure us away from you, the TRUTH. He provides a false sense of peace by keeping us busy and competing with each other to feel better about ourselves. But he can never give us the peace, quietness, and security only you can give to our souls. Father, bring our souls, along with its thoughts, emotions, and will back to the place of your peace, where everything is real and everlasting, never temporal.
