John 17:13-19 (Amplified Bible)
13 But now I am coming to You; and I say these things [while I am still] in the world so that they may experience My joy made full and complete and perfect within them [filling their hearts with My delight].
14 I have given to them Your word [the message You gave Me]; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world and do not belong to the world, just as I am not of the world and do not belong to it.
15 I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but that You keep them and PROTECT THEM FROM THE EVIL ONE.
16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them in the truth [set them apart for Your purposes, make them holy]; Your word is truth.
18 Just as You commissioned and sent Me into the world, I also have commissioned and sent them (believers) into the world. 19 For their sake, I sanctify Myself [to do Your will], so that they also may be sanctified [set apart, dedicated, made holy] in [Your] truth.
In John Chapter 17, as Jesus was preparing to suffer an agonizing death and lay down His life for the sins of the world: He prayed for us. As many people of color all over the world have died at the hands of the spirit of the evil one: Jesus continues to pray through His Body.
JESUS PRAYS THROUGH HIS BODY
Here are some prayers I received from my brothers this past week.
Good Morning Tresca and Tony,
I feel prompted in light of the George Floyd incident to write to you and tell you how much I am grieving. Not only for Mr. Floyd and his family but this country as well. I also grieve for every black man, woman, and child who has been treated unfairly just because their skin is a different color. I can’t feel what you feel because I am not black, but as a human being and more importantly as a Christ-follower, I am grieving, frustrated, and even righteously angry at what started as evil in America with the slave trade and is still being perpetuated today.
I know Satan uses events like these to keep us divided as a people because we know his only desire is to steal, kill, and destroy. However, this whole tragedy is reinforcing the truth that without Christ, our flesh will take us to these terrible places. We both know that Jesus is the only answer. His life and His love are the only solutions for this kind of evil. I am praying with you as I ask that you pray with me that we stand together in Christ against any and all forms of bigotry and prejudice. May we stand united in Christ, proclaiming Him as the Way, the only way, out of this and, all the other forms of evil in this world. I love you dear brother and sister and stand with you in His love which conquers all.
Love you both,
My Brother from Texas
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
My Dearest Sister Tresca,
At the very same time when your new rocket will be launched to reach the stars, I’m sad to learn that not only the COVD-19 virus but even the spirit of division, bigotry, anger, and rebellion threaten the lives of many on Earth in your cities. Please know that you are in my heart and my prayers. May the Lord Jesus, on whom your great country has been founded send His spirit of peace and revival. And may you all enjoy His peace, health, prosperity, and protection! May God Bless America!
My Brother from Croatia
Thank you, Father, for the lives of the many who have died at the hands of those You have given to us to serve and protect us, and have used their authority to kill and destroy us, will not be in vain. We are so grateful that You see and have never turned your face away from these atrocities. Jesus has prayed and we, Your Body is praying for the end of systematic racism, and for justice, unity, and equality in the world.
I affirm the words of my Brother St. Francis of Assisi, will you?
“LORD, BECAUSE YOU LIVE THROUGH ME, I AM YOUR instrument of Peace; where there is hatred, I WILL Sow Love; where there is injury, I WILL Pardon; where there is discord, I WILL MINISTER Unity; where there is doubt, I WILL MINISTER Faith; where there is despair, I WILL MINISTER Hope; where there is darkness, I WILL MINISTER Light (and Truth); and where there is sadness, I WILL MINISTER Joy.
“O Divine Master, I WILL Console; I WILL SEEK to Understand; I WILL MINISTER Your Love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we HAVE BEEN born to eternal life.” AMEN
