IN HIM – OUR NEW ADDRESS Part 6
For He has rescued us and has drawn us to Himself from the dominion of darkness, and has transferred us to the Kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption [because of His sacrifice, resulting in] the forgiveness of our sins [and the cancellation of sins’ penalty]. Colossians 1:13-14, Amplified Bible.
From our last blogs, we discovered what we possess in our new home IN HIM (the heart of Jesus Christ):
- Every one of our needs is supplied by Christ.
- He cares for our emotional and spiritual needs.
- We are safe and secure in His loving and protective arms.
- We are valued and adored, individually, and unconditionally as if we were the only ones on the earth.
I was talking with someone the other day who mentioned how they believe a new president and administration will finally bring peace and unity to our nation. As I listened to their heart, like many of us who have gone through very turbulent times in our country, my desires are similar. However, I don’t believe a new president, administration, laws, or commandments have the power to do so.
The Bible declares, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks” Matthew 12:34.
And, “It is out of the heart that evil thoughts come, as well as murder, adultery, sexual immorality, stealing, false testimony, and slander” Matthew 15:19.
What we witnessed in our nation for a season, was evil hearts being exposed. Hatred, bitterness, disunity, violence, and so much more have always existed and will always exist as long as mankind has an evil heart and walk after the flesh. Laws, rules, and even the Ten Commandments only put a muzzle on an evil heart and show us how wretched we are without Jesus Christ. It’s like a dog with a muzzle on who wants to bite someone but can’t.
Today, I want to remind us that IN HIM we have Peace and Unity in the Spirit, so no need to look outside of Christ to the world for them. Jesus said in John 14:27, of the Amplified Bible:
“My Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]
In other words, Jesus is saying, the world will offer you a counterfeit peace but it is not my peace. When Jesus spoke of “the world,” He was referring to a system, established by Adam, where man has become his own god and can get his desires and needs met without God. It is fleshly and evil. The names given to those who live by this system are found in the books of Ephesians and John. (They haven’t been born-again into the family of God):
- Children of Darkness
- Children of Disobedience
- Walking in the Ways of the World
- Spiritually Dead
- Ruled by the Prince of the Air
- Their Father is the Devil.
So, when mankind, outside of Christ says peace and safety, there must be a compromise for the children of God to fit into their system of peace. I love Ephesians 2:14 in the Amplified Bible; it reads:
For HE HIMSELF IS OUR PEACE AND BOND OF UNITY. He who made both groups—[Jews and Gentiles]—into one body and broke down the barrier, the dividing wall [of spiritual antagonism between us].
The world’s system promises us Peace and Unity but we never have to look outside of Christ living within us. We already possess Him! No laws, rules, or commandments can ever change the hearts of man to be nice, kind, and always loving unconditionally; if so, it is all superficial. If we could achieve this without Christ, then why did He come to die for us in the first place?
Isn’t it wonderful to know what this world longs for we already possess, IN HIM?
- We Have Been Given a New Heart (Ezekiel 11:19)
- We are His New Creations (2 Corinthians 5:17)
- We are One In Christ (Galatians 3:28)
- We are One With Our Father (John 17:21-23)
- We are Baptized Into One Body of Christ, Jews, Greeks, Black, White, Asian, Indians, etc. (Ephesians 1:10)
What the world is hungering and thirsting for is Jesus Christ, living His loving peace-filled life through us. Nothing can or ever will bring Peace and Unity into the hearts of man or the world. That’s why we are called “Ambassadors of Christ,” reconciling and drawing every human heart back into the loving arms of Jesus Christ to experience TRUE Peace and Unity.
Thank you, Father, that you have given to the whole world Jesus Christ to experience! In these difficult times, He is our Peace and is Unifying everyone and everything to Himself in heaven and on earth by His love and Spirit!
Enjoy Christ, Enjoy Life!
