HEAVEN SERENADES: Seek and Ye Shall Find
One of my favorite games playing with my sister was Hide and Seek; do you remember that game? I loved finding new places to hide from her in the house but my favorite place was the hallway closet. It was the place we kept all of our dirty clothes. So, if you can imagine, it was quite stinky in there! Guess what? That usually was the last place she’d never look. I also loved playing Hide and Seek with my friends, at the playground, but it was difficult to hide in the open if there were no trees, so I hid behind cars.
If you think about it, we learned some valuable life skills as children playing Hide and Seek. We learned to:
- Be determined and not give up on whatever we are looking for.
- Be persistent and not give in to frustration.
- Be patient, whatever we are trying to attain is within our reach.
- To not be deceived by the voices in our heads that say, “You will not reach your goals.”
- To trust that in time, all of our goals will be fulfilled.
In the Bible, the word seek means to search out by any method or means. It also means to strive after, pursue, desire, endeavor, require and enquire. Our brother, King David, said in Psalm 27:4:
One thing I have asked of the Lord, and that I will seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty [the delightful loveliness and majestic grandeur] of the Lord and to meditate in His temple. (Amplified)
King David had a strong pursuit, request, and desire from the Lord; can you hear the passion of his heart? Our Brother Paul had a very similar request of the Lord; hear his heart in Philippians 3:10:
And this, so that I may know Him [experientially, becoming more thoroughly acquainted with Him, understanding the remarkable wonders of His Person more completely] and [in that same way experience] the power of His resurrection [which overflows and is active in believers], and [that I may share] the fellowship of His sufferings, by being continually conformed [inwardly into His likeness even] to His death [dying as He did]. (Amplified)
Unfortunately, some of us believe our Lord is hiding from us. The truth is, He doesn’t play Hide and Seek with us. He longs for us to discover the wonders of His person and the glorious riches of His grace and life. He has told us over and over again in His Word how to find Him and where He lives…He lives within us. He longs for us to pursue, go after, and desire Him! As children, we have learned the skills we need to find Him but will we seek so that we will find Him and enjoy all the riches He has in store for us?
SEEK AND YE SHALL FIND

Seek and ye shall find.
For I have been within you all the time.
Just waiting for you to come inside to live.
To share my glory and all I will reveal.
Every soul that seeks shall find Me.
Every blinded heart will finally see.
Every empty soul I will fill.
Every anxious heart I will still.
So seek and ye shall find.
I have been within you all the time.
Since the day you called My name.
Since that day you have never been the same.
Jesus said, “Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps on asking receives, and he who keeps on seeking finds, and to him who keeps on knocking, it will be opened.” Matthew 7:7, 8 (Amplified)
