As I was reflecting on all the beautiful things my Lord is to me, I came up with just a few of them:

 

The Lord is My Savior

The Lord is My Redeemer

The Lord is My Good Shepherd

The Lord is My Safe Place

The Lord is My Healer

The Lord is My Friend

The Lord is My Peace

The Lord is My Joy

The Lord is My Beloved

The Lord is My Protector

The Lord is My Bread of Life

The Lord is My Holiness

The Lord is My Righteousness

The Lord is My Wisdom

The Lord is My Supplier of All of My Needs

 

My list can go on and on, so I will stop for now. When I think about who my Lord Jesus is, I can sum it up in one word, “LIFE!” It sounds elementary, and yes, it is, but when I thought about all the scriptures that talked about this one word, “Life,” I was in awe!

 

The word life in the Bible has more than one meaning. The first one is,” psyche” means to raise, to breathe or life to the soul. It is our humanity, heart, and being. We get the word psychology from this word, which is the study of mind and behavior. But then there is the word “Zoe” it is a vastly different kind of life. Zoe means, “As THE Life as God Has it.” Another way of putting it,

 

“Zoe is the Divine Life of God that gives everyone and everything their purpose and meaning for being.”

 

 

• Zoe is the life breathed into man in the beginning when he became a living psyche.
• Zoe is the life our Father has in Himself.
• Zoe is the life our Father gave to Jesus Christ when He became a man.
• Zoe is the life we lost in the garden when Adam chose to live life on his terms.
• Zoe is Eternal and Everlasting life without end.
• Jesus laid down His psyche on the cross, but Zoe is eternal and could never die.

 

You and I were born dead without Zoe. Even though we breathe, can see, and have our faculties, our spirits were dead and void of Zoe (His Divine Life). However, when we gave our lives (psyche) to Jesus Christ, He came into our dead spirits and gave us His Zoe again! We are no longer just alive, but we have God’s Divine Life; the Life with the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit living within us. We get to live from God’s Divine Economy; the Riches of Himself forever!

 

The following scriptures from the Amplified Bible shed light on Zoe’s meaning.

 

The Rich Young Ruler

¹⁶ And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what [essentially] good thing shall I do to obtain Zoe [that is, eternal salvation in the Messiah’s kingdom]?” Matthew 19:16

(He was a rich man so he thought he could buy Zoe. Zoe is a FREE GIFT to all those who receive Jesus Christ).

 

 Zoe is Never Found in the Things We Possess

¹⁵ Then Jesus said to them, “Watch out and guard yourselves against every form of greed; for not even when one has an overflowing abundance does his Zoe consist of nor is it derived from his possessions.” Luke 12:15

 

 Zoe is in The Person of Jesus Christ

⁴ In Him (Jesus Christ) was Zoe [and the power to bestow life], and the life was the Light of men. John 1:4

 

Whoever Believes into Jesus Receives Zoe

¹⁶ For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish but have Zoe. John 3:16

 

Jesus Came to Give Us Abundant Zoe Not Merely Earthly Enjoyment

¹⁰ The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy Zoe and have (Zoe) in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]. John 10:10

 

 Zoe is Only Found in Jesus Christ

⁶ Jesus said to him, “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Zoe; no one comes to the Father but through Me. John 14:6

 

 Our True Zoe is Hidden in Jesus Christ

³ For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] Zoe is hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:3

 

Thank you, Jesus, for laying down your psyche to give me your Zoe!

 

 

There are many words and titles we can use to describe our Lord Jesus Christ. But the word Zoe is one word that sums them up for me. I have found everything my soul has ever longed and searched for in Jesus Christ, My Zoe! Jesus fills our hearts and souls to the brim with His abundant Zoe. We can draw from His Zoe dwelling within us. Jesus told the woman at the well, “When you drink of Me, you will NEVER thirst again.” I am the woman at the well, and Jesus has and is filling my soul with HIMSELF moment by moment!
