For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

When I reflected on our Father’s greatest gift to us, Jesus Christ, I remembered the song, “Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel.” The entire world rejoiced when God dressed Himself in human flesh and came to live with us! That is hard to conceive! How could the God who created heaven and earth, breathed His life into filthy dirt, then zipped Himself up in that dirt and became a human being? Unfathomable! My brain can’t compute! You think that is amazing, He did something even more unimaginable than that.

 

Not only is God Emmanuel (God with us), but He is also “Christos en Hymin.” Woooooooo! “Christos en Hymin.” For all of us who gave our hearts and lives to Jesus the Christos, God lives IN YOU! The world can rejoice in Emmanuel, but only those who have been born-again into the family of God can sing “Christos en Emoi (CHRIST IN ME) and Christos en Hymin (CHRIST LIVES IN YOU).”  

 

Our Father’s greatest gift to us and who lives inside us forever is Jesus the Christ. Let me share with you who lives inside you this very second.

 

  WITHIN US DWELLS THE WONDERFUL COUNSELOR

For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize and understand our weaknesses and temptations, but One who has been tempted [knowing exactly how it feels to be human] in every respect as we are, yet without [committing any] sin.  Hebrews 4:15 (Amplified)

 

Jesus knows each one of us intimately. He knows every thought we think and feels every emotion we feel. We can turn inwardly to Him in our moment of distress. He loves us and cares deeply for everything that concerns us.

 

WITHIN US DWELLS THE MIGHTY GOD

Who is the King of Glory? The Lord Strong and Mighty, the Lord Mighty in battle.
Psalm 24:8 (KJV)

 

In our day-to-day experiences, some of us keep Jesus, the Mighty God, at a distance, up in the heavens somewhere. The truth be told, there is no place He is not, but His joy and pleasure are to reveal to us who He is within us… Our Mighty God! What does the title mean to be Mighty? The word, Mighty describes Jesus Christ within us as strong, powerful, courageous, brave, never flinching from difficulties, valiant, warrior, and champion of every battle. Because He lives within us, He has made us more than conquerors as we experience His Life. By faith, we will share one victory after victory.

 

WITHIN US DWELLS THE EVERLASTING FATHER

Philip said unto Jesus, “Lord, show us the Father, and then we will be satisfied.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time, and you do not know Me, yet. Do you not believe that?
I am in the Father, and the Father is IN Me?” John 14:8-10 (Amplified)

 

Jesus Christ came to us as a Son but drew His essence and Life from His Eternal Father, living within Him. He demonstrated how to live life from another source rather than our own. He also showed us how tender, loving, kind, patient and merciful our Heavenly Father is. All we ever known of our Father was from the Old Testament, one to be feared and kept at a distance, however, never again will we see our Father that way when we see Jesus Christ.

 

WITHIN US DWELLS THE PRINCE OF PEACE

The men wondered in amazement, saying, “What kind of man is this,
that even the winds and the sea obey Him?” Matthew 8:27 (Amplified)

 

Jesus lives within us as Prince, commander, general, ruler, leader, elder, captain, chief, overseer, and governor over everything and everyone. We can limit His power within us by doubting Him and His capabilities in our lives but that never changes the fact of who He is.

 

He is the Prince of Peace over fear, depression, chaos, darkness, turmoil, confusion, worry, and anxiety; He Is Our Peace! What does the Prince of Peace do? When we turn to Him within us:

 

• He stills the raging thoughts and emotions in our souls.
• He lays us down beside quiet waters to refresh us.
• He makes us feel safe when darkness appears to overtake us.
• He causes us to rest when we are weary or burdened down.
• He tears down walls that separate us from Him and others; He ends all divisions.
• He gives us favor with our enemies and those who wish us harm.
• He guides our souls through grief, confusion, pain, and difficulties.

 

Because Jesus Christ IS The Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace, He rules and governs the universe and wants to do the same in our lives when we allow Him.
