HEAVEN SERENADES: Holding You Close
(Heaven Serenades are poems to be read or sung, called Psalms)
Our nation is going through such deep sorrow with the loss of so many innocent lives to gun violence… my heart is broken. In the midst of tragedy, grief, and loss, we can feel hopeless. Sometimes the pain is so overwhelming, we can’t even look or think about it. But today, I want to assure you, our ABBA (Daddy, Papa) is in us and with us as we face pain and tragedy in us and around us. In today’s blog, I want to remind us from a story I wrote in a previous blog, our Father has us; He is “Holding Us Close,” so turn inwardly to Him.
A story is told of a husband whose wife died. He lost his wife and his daughter lost her mother. After the funeral, close relatives noticed the grieving husband and asked him, “Do you want us to take your daughter away for a few days so you can have time to grieve?” The man replied, “No, we are going to face this together.” So that night as the father was putting his daughter to bed, she cried out, “Daddy, it is dark in here, can I sleep in your room?” His reply was, “Yes, you can sleep in my room.”
As they went into the father’s room, turned off the light, his little girl cried out again, “Daddy, it is dark in here too.” The father said, “Yes baby, I know it is dark.” Then the little girl said, “Daddy, it is darker than it has ever been.” The father replied, “Yes baby, it is darker than it has ever been for me too.” In the darkness, the little girl asked, “Daddy, is your face turned toward me?” The dad said, “Yes, my face is turned toward you.” She said, “I can go to sleep now.”
After the little girl went to sleep, the father who was in such despair at the loss of his wife, fell upon his knees and asked his Heavenly Father, “Daddy, is your face turned toward me?” He heard a voice gently say from within his spirit, “Yes, my face is turned towards you, My son, and you are always close to My heart.” The father said, “Okay Daddy, I am going to sleep now.”
We can read and think what a beautiful and heartfelt story. But, can I ask you a question… Is Daddy’s face toward you? Do you really know how much He loves YOU? Do you really know how much He tenderly and affectionately wants His very best for YOU? YOU ARE SAFE! He is forever “Holding You Close;” He will never loosen His hold on You!

Days are not always dark.
Even though they appear to be so.
Weeping and sadness don’t always linger on.
Even though they may appear to be so.
Just close your eyes and open your heart,
To my whisper in the silence.
In the depths of your soul, you will find Me.
I am always holding you close to My heart.
Chorus
Holding you close is what I live for.
It’s what I long for.
Holding you near and drying each tear.
Is all I ever wanted to do.
Is all I ever wanted to do.
Pain and sorrow seem to swallow you up.
Yes, it appears to be so.
Sleepless nights seem to take their toll.
Trying to tear your world apart.
I know it appears to be so.
Just close your eyes and open your heart,
To My whisper in the silence.
In the depths of your soul, you will find Me.
Look, I am holding you close to My Heart.
Weeping may last for this moment,
Only for this moment.
But I promise joy comes in the morning.
When you least expect and it’s not in your when,
Never in your how, but in My moment,
And in My hour you will finally see Me… your Light.
Chorus
Holding you close is what I live for.
It’s what I long for.
Holding you near and drying each tear.
Is all I ever wanted to do.
Is all I ever wanted to do.
See what an incredible quality of love the Father has shown to us, that we would [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the Children of God! And SO WE ARE! For this reason, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. I John 3:1 (Amplified)
