The sheep that are My own hear My voice and listen to Me; I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they will never, ever [by any means] perish; and no one will ever snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater and mightier than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are One [in essence and nature].” John 10:27-30 Amplified
One of mankind’s most intimate needs is to feel safe and secure. In a world filled with chaos, confusion, death, and uncertainty, how in this world can we ever feel and know that we are safe and secure. When fear torment our souls day in and day out through the television, news, and negative reports all around us, it appears impossible, right? For 59 years of my life, I lived tormented by fear. Because of 27 traumatic events in my life, underneath the covers in my soul, I never felt safe. You too may have had difficult life experiences that have left you paralyzed by fear. Over the years, you and I have learned ways to deal with our fears; here are just a few:
- We pretend we aren’t afraid.
- We hide by keeping busy with activities.
- We focus on others’ needs to keep the focus off of our own.
- We memorize scriptures to protect us from our fears; this is only a band-aid.
- We self-medicate by using drugs, alcohol, work, television, movies, and more.
- We build walls around us and call them boundaries in order to cover up our fears.
- We work hard to try and make others meet our needs for safety and security.
In the flesh, we have learned amazing ways to hide our insecurities, which are only our fears. When I speak of our fears, it is because they belong to the evil one but we have made them our own. After years of experiencing rejection, abuse, not feeling good enough, and abandonment by others, eventually I gave in to the lies that people will always look down on me, reject me, and hurt me or use me; those lies became mine. So, in the flesh, I came up with ways to protect myself while trying to make myself feel safe and secure…it didn’t work. I discovered fear was stronger than all of my strategies and it wore me out and brought Despair. Did you hear that? They brought me to a place called Despair. Have you ever been there? I have many times! But in that place, do you know what I discovered? Jesus! Yes, I found living within me, the loving and secure arms of my Jesus! Sometimes it is only in that hopeless room of Despair, do we really see Him and experience just how secure we really are. In that place, He makes His words to us come alive! Listen…
I Peter 5:7 – Cast all of your fears, anxieties, on Me because I care so much for you…I GOT YOU!
Romans 8:35 – What is going to separate you from My love for you… NOTHING!
Matthew 28:20 – I will be with you ALWAYS even when time on earth ends…WE ARE ONE ETERNALLY!
John 10:27-30 – Remember, I have you and so does My Father; no one or nothing can ever snatch you out of our Hands!
How wonderful it is to know, we don’t have to hide or pretend we aren’t afraid…Jesus already knows the truth about how we feel and think. He is not ashamed of our fears; the only thing He is asking… DO YOU WANT TO KEEP HOLDING ON TO THEM OR DO YOU WANT TO GIVE THEM TO ME?
I gave all of my fears to Jesus! And, I continue to give them to Him because only when I let go of my insecurities and fears can I rest and abide in His loving and secured arms.
Enjoy Christ and Enjoy Life!
