TWO TREES IN THE GARDEN OF OUR HEARTS
TWO TREES IN THE GARDEN OF OUR HEARTS
New Series
“THE KINGDOM OF GOD LIVES WITHIN US AND IT IS SO IMPORTANT WE UNDERSTAND WHICH TREE IS MEETING OUR NEEDS”
While preparing for this blog series on “Two Trees Planted in the Garden of our Hearts,” Papa reminded me of a song we wrote in 1986 as He was teaching me how to live a life dependent on His Spirit versus a life lived from the flesh. It is interesting how few of us really understand the difference between the two trees and how we embrace the “good” from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil rather than eat from Christ, who is the “Tree of Life.” I hope these series of blogs can truly be beneficial as we can examine the tree our Father forbids us to eat from because it brings death, instead of Life… His Life.
TWO TREES

There are two trees planted in the garden of my heart.
One in the midst supplying its own needs.
The other planted by the rivers of Life flowing freely,
Its branches grow up to praise the King.
Chorus
So, my soul, choose Christ today and live.
Choose Christ for He is eternal.
Don’t be deceived by your own way and die.
Choose Christ today and live.
Let’s begin by discussing the command of our Father gave to us in the Garden.
Genesis 2: 15-17 – So the Lord God took the man [He had made] and settled him in the Garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may freely (unconditionally) eat [the fruit] from every tree of the garden; 17 but [only] from the Tree of the Knowledge (recognition) of Good and Evil you shall not eat, otherwise on the day that you eat from it, you shall most certainly die [because of your disobedience].” Amplified Version
A simple message, right? Eat from every tree in the garden I have given to you Adam, but not this one. It’s the one that will bring death to you my son. The Father, the protector, and lover of our souls know what is best for us and what isn’t, right? He knows and understands “good” is evil and can bring us great harm and cause us great distress, right? So why do you suppose we still eat daily from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil when we have so many other trees to eat from?
During our time together, I want you to think about the results of eating from the forbidden tree. The Bible said, “The eyes of them were opened; they knew they were naked.” The truth was, they were created to be naked because they were clothed in the Righteousness and Holiness of God. Remember, Father created mankind in His image so that he would remain vulnerable, defenseless, helpless, exposed, and dependent upon Him. When we realize how vulnerable, defenseless, helpless, and exposed we are in situations; we do something. We create our own aprons of fig leaves to protect ourselves. Where do you suppose we get the leaves to make our aprons from? My guess from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil? If all the other trees in the garden were GOOD FOR FOOD, my guess this tree wasn’t an apple tree as all the pictures depict, but possibly a fig tree to meet our needs, (just my guess). This was a tree Papa didn’t want us to partake of because it would make us believe we are WISER THAN HE IS AND WE CAN FIGURE LIFE OUT WITHOUT HIM… WHAT A LIE!
In the next few weeks we will examine:
- What is the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil?
- The fruit of death it supplies the soul.
- 10 reasons we eat from this tree.
- The effects we experience eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
- The Tree of Life
- The fruit of life it supplies the soul.
- Why the Tree of Life is the only tree which provides TRUE Life and Peace

Prayer: Thank you, Papa, for revealing your life and truth to us. Remove the scales from our eyes through this series so we will choose to eat only from the tree you have chosen to give us LIFE and freedom. We are so honored to be your children to love and serve you throughout eternity. AMEN
