A PLACE CALLED THERE

A PLACE CALLED THERE

(Repost from 2016)

I had written a different blog for this week; however, I woke up this morning with this blog in my heart. The Lord knows someone needs this blog this week, enjoy!

Have you experienced your day going just fine, your emotions, mind, and heart are at peace, then suddenly, you get annoyed, curious, lost focus, or distracted by something or someone and they take your soul away from your peace and rest with the Lord? I have a zillion times! Instead of praying and turning back to Him, our place of rest, you find yourself angry, anxious, frustrated, and eventually totally off course and drifting to a place called, ‘there.’ When you finally get your bearings, you ask yourself, “Now, how did I get over there?” It is so easy to get over there rather than keeping your soul here, with the Lord. It is almost impossible to live in a world where everything around us is fighting for our attention, good and bad things… right? Jesus offered us a perfect solution to our dilemma. I have discovered in the over 40 years of my intimate journey with my Lord, every time I obeyed His words to me, I remained at rest and at peace. However, whenever I didn’t obey and listen to Him, I got caught up in my emotions, thoughts, and fears, or started reacting in the flesh.

Today, I want to share a simple scripture our Lord uses to keep me snuggled in my rest with Him.  He has already brought our souls and spirits to His Kingdom within us, our Home of rest, In Him… it’s called, here. It is here where we were created to live and abide forever in His awesome love, grace, life, and presence. Normally, when we wake up in the morning, unless we weren’t resting in our sleep, we wake up refreshed and alive living in His magnificent joy and pleasure. It is only when we open our eyes that our day and all its activities begin knocking on the door to our soul. If we don’t take those thoughts to our Lord and ask Him to order our day together, we will find ourselves, over there. Over there is where anxiety, worry, doubt, fear, confusion, striving, struggles, anger, frustration, and stress live. There calls our names all day to come over to experience death and darkness. But we have a choice Precious One. The beautiful scripture and words of our Lord say:

[Looking Away from All that will distract us and] Focusing Our Eyes on Jesus (Within Us) who is the Author and Perfecter of faith [the first incentive for our belief and the One who brings our faith to maturity] who for the joy [of accomplishing the goal] set before Him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God [revealing His deity, His authority, and the completion of His work]. Hebrews 12:2 Amplified

Tell me, does our Lord Jesus know about distractions or what? Think about all the distractions He encountered during His brief time on earth. Jesus came on a mission to fulfill our Father’s purposes. But there were many people and circumstances to deter Him from His mission. Let’s look at only a few of them:

  • The religious leaders of His day, Pharisees and Sadducees
  • Dedicated Jews of the Law of Moses
  • His disciples constantly doubted who He was no matter what miracles He performed
  • Those who wanted to make Him King over an earthly Kingdom
  • The evil one who was always around trying to tempt Him or get Him off course
  • The people were constantly bombarding Him to meet their needs
  • His disciples also wanted power and prestige or deter Him from Him dying on the cross.

Our Lord remained focused because He knew who He was and understood His union with His Father. Therefore, He turned to His Father asking Him for His direction, His desires, or how did He want to respond to every situation in His life. Do you recall how Jesus drew with His finger in the sand when they brought Him the woman caught in adultery? He didn’t react to their charges. But I believe He was praying and waiting to hear the heart of His Father and how He wanted to handle it through Him.

I have learned over the years when I feel my emotions, thoughts, or feelings getting rattled. I can hear the door handle of my soul being shaken distracting me to open the door and go over there, I make the choice moment by moment to say, “No, Lord I am going to stay here, how do You desire to handle this situation?” Guess what, 100 out of 100 times, my Lord handles it His way.

YOU WILL KEEP ME in perfect and constant peace because my mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You… in both inclination and character] because I trust and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation]. Isaiah 26:3 Amplified

Enjoy Christ, and Enjoy Life!

  1. Hi Tresca, I tried to comment yesterday but my computer wouldn’t let me…
This was for John and me — I just said “Don’t go there” to John — our minds can go down the wrong pike. It’s the devil’s way to propagate his lies to our mind and soul.
    Thanks for this.

  2. God gives us all the tools we need to live our lives in the eternal realm. It is up to us to choose to set our minds on those things while at the same time shutting out the temporal.

    1. Yes, our TOOL is CHRIST Within US and living HIS LIFE THROUGH US. ” God shall supply ALL our needs according to His riches in Glory, BY Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
